How CareMount Transformed Patient Communication Across 100+ Locations Using TouchSource

CareMount Medical (now part of Optum Medical Care), one of New York’s largest and most respected multi-specialty medical groups, faced a challenge common to growing healthcare networks: how to deliver consistent, timely, and engaging communication across a wide network of clinics and campuses.

Static signage made it difficult to keep up with changing provider locations, evolving services, and urgent announcements. Even routine updates required time-consuming printing, onsite changes, and staff coordination—resulting in operational strain and missed opportunities to engage patients.

CareMount needed a solution that could keep pace with their dynamic environment—and support their commitment to a patient-centered experience.

A Scalable Solution for a Growing Network

To solve this, CareMount implemented TouchSource’s cloud-based digital signage platform. Initially motivated by a need for more flexible directories, the team quickly saw the potential of building a more comprehensive patient communication system.

They rolled out 33 digital directories across key campuses to help patients navigate more easily—and paired those with over 110 patient-facing screens in waiting rooms and clinical areas to share service updates, wellness content, and brand messaging.

The results were immediate. Staff were no longer burdened by manual signage changes. Content could be updated across hundreds of screens in minutes, tailored by location, and refreshed as often as needed—all from a single, intuitive dashboard.

“Ease of use with the directories has been so helpful in updating the location of our valued clinical providers—especially during the pandemic when services were being offered in different locations. The digital directories have been worth their weight in gold in directing both patients and staff.”

From Static Signs to Dynamic Messaging

CareMount’s marketing and operations teams now have a powerful tool to communicate with patients more proactively. Instead of static signs and paper flyers, waiting rooms now display tailored content that includes:

  • Provider introductions and new services

  • Health and wellness campaigns

  • Timely alerts such as flu season reminders or urgent care changes

Every message reflects the CareMount brand and can be adapted by region, specialty, or audience—allowing the team to maintain consistency while speaking directly to local patient needs.

What started as a solution for operational signage became a key part of their marketing and patient engagement strategy.

“Both the directory and waiting room digital screens have had a great impact on not only the look of our offices but in the fact that we now have another tool to push out information quickly to our patients. The ability to customize content by location is key so that we can target messaging to the right areas. Patients and staff alike enjoy our own version of “CareMount TV”. Overall, the project has been very successful,” said D’Angelo-Mullen.

A Model for Modern Healthcare Networks

CareMount’s success offers a blueprint for large health systems looking to unify their communications, reduce operational friction, and create more engaging experiences for patients.

With TouchSource’s all-in-one platform, the organization gained more than digital signage—they gained real-time control, brand consistency, and the agility to adapt communications across dozens of locations.

For organizations like Optum, where scale, speed, and brand alignment are critical, CareMount’s transformation highlights what’s possible with the right technology and partnership.
