Do Good with Your Display: Raise Awareness about Breast Cancer

Author Christine Viera

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is held every October to promote screening and prevention of the disease. Breast Cancer affects 1 in 8 women in the United States every year and 2.3 million women worldwide, according to Breastcancer.org.

According to statistics compiled by the Susan G. Komen organization, it’s estimated among women in the U.S. for 2023 there will be:

  • 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer
  • 55,720 new cases of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), a non-invasive breast cancer
  • 43,170 breast cancer deaths

While breast cancer affects women in larger numbers, men also suffer from this form of cancer. Thanks to advances in detection and wider availability of screening services, we can now catch this disease before symptoms are even evident.

This year, this call for awareness is more personal. Friends and family have benefited from screening this year that led to early detection. Thanks to that annual mammogram, loved ones are in recovery with excellent prognoses. For that, we are deeply grateful.

With 1 in 8 women affected by breast cancer, it means you probably already know someone impacted too. And that’s why we’re encouraging everyone who has digital displays in their buildings to add a Breast Cancer Awareness Poster to your on-screen slideshow this month.

All of you touch the lives of good people in your buildings every day. If just one person decides to schedule that long overdue mammogram, it could save a life

Won’t you join us in getting the word out?

With gratitude,

Christine & Team TouchSource
